Highway 90. October. A remarkable collection of American horsepower, all proceeding at the speed of a shopping cart with one bad wheel. I had taken three back roads to buy milk. Downtown, three visitors were trying to fit themselves, their classic car, and an entire mural into one selfie. I took their picture. Twice. Coasties are hospitable people. We would simply like to make a left turn occasionally.
A week later, 90 was a road again. I took the long way home on purpose. The last orange was fading over the water, a crescent moon had settled into the evening sky, and a silver Camaro rolled past with the windows down. Beautiful car. Considerably easier to appreciate when it wasn’t standing between me and a gallon of milk.
